Helping heroes heal, one step at a time
Beyond A Step is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Northwest Arkansas. We help firefighters, police officers, EMS crews, dispatchers, ER nurses, funeral directors, coroners, and veterans get confidential mental health care, physical health support, and nutrition help at no cost to them, so the people who serve everyone else can heal too.
How we help
What support does Beyond A Step provide?
We cover three kinds of support. Mental health care is delivered confidentially by our partner Heroes Behind The Line. Physical health and nutrition support are run by our own team. Every request is free for qualifying applicants, and nobody at your workplace is ever contacted.
Physical health
Gym memberships, physical therapy, and wellness programs that help you keep the strength a demanding career requires.
Nutrition
Nutrition counseling and resources to fuel the body for the physical and mental demands of service.
Who we serve
Who can get help?
First responders, last responders, and veterans who live or serve in Northwest Arkansas, including Bentonville, Rogers, Fayetteville, Springdale, Bella Vista, and nearby towns. If your job puts you face to face with the worst days of other people's lives, we are here for you.
Our story
How did Beyond A Step start?
It started with a small group of friends who wanted to honor the 20th anniversary of September 11. Within seven days their idea turned into an event with 84 people that raised more than $1,000 for local service departments. That response showed how much our community wants to give back, and Beyond A Step was founded in 2021 to keep doing it.
Support the mission
What does a donation do?
Every $125 gives one hero access to mental health, physical health, and nutrition resources. Gifts are tax deductible, and donations are processed securely by Givebutter.
